    • Useful things you need but didn't want to ask / Echoe Rom Note 5 port

Well thanks to the Master fredrick460 I took the plunge and setup this thread.

New versions of this Note 4 Rom seem to be released so often that some of those useful tweeks or comments you once used can't be found.
You remember the thingy magig or whats-its-name being posted somewhere but you just can't seem to find it anywhere leaving only one thing. ..........
.... You have to ask in the main developer section for a link or reminder etc only to be shot down because it was only posted 2 pages ago. Or you just can't be bothered to look.

Well hopefully this might go some way to releaving some of the stress of answering the same old questions in the main forum.
The idea is that if you have a useful or needed link you post it here. If you solve a problem to an ongoing issue by all means post it on the main forum but also post it here so it can easily be found later.
It could be a Web link, a file download or just a comment. Hopefully at worst you will only have a few pages to troll through to find what you're looking for.
I will try and always bring important posts forward for easy location if relevant for the current build.

Hi everybody, there is possible, at the boot to choose betwen Miui v7 and this rom ? A simple multiboot? :) Thanks
You can try this, i don't know if Miui is supported but it works very well with CM based 6.0.1 ROM on my S4. I guess for Note 4 you need to use Data partition, because of the smaller cache partition.

Ok this is the link I think although not sure I ever add playstore links correctly:
      play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newagetools.batdoc

I couldn't say 100% this really works or is just a simulation but it seems to be working for me. I don't think it really alters the battery as it's just a power source but I think it changes something on the device that interprets the battery better.
Another app that runs alongside is a battery calibration that doesn't require you to run the battery totally flat to calibrate just follow the displayed instructions :
      play.google.com/store/apps/det…om.newagetools.batcalibra

Ok I hope the above works for you. I seem to be getting an extra few hours out of mine.
      Just posted from main forum.
    • good idea...
And will get things going with this one.

      I got one question :
In Port 5 to sync events from Facebook to calender I use
      Facebook calender sync
But it's really drain battery, at least imo, in 5hrs sleep /deep sleep it's drain about 8 %.
      What's * biiip* to much.
Why and what can I do to reduce this drain.

    • I think I have tried it sometimes before. But always feels like it do more harm than good.
But maybe it will fix this drain.
If Noone have some better solution.

Thought I tried disable service app.. But saw another one now [root]services. Maybe better.. Will look it up

I found a fix for my issues with not being able to text numbers, the issue was caused by wanam limiting the max numbers to be seen as valid to be 10. To fix this follow this simple guide (wasn't made by me)

    • Have you noticed that you can't fully charge a half charged battery?
Either you get the 98% syndrome or it drains fast to 97...96....95....
If you let it drop to 5% or less and than fully charge without touching the phone until its charged... you may get the "scary 100".

I've been on ports for a while now and I've always loved them, but the "sad" part for me was that they seem to slow down after a while.

I just wanted to share this new flashing method I tried, which seems to give me long term stability without any of the slow downs I did encounter in the past.

      1) Flash a stock note 4 rom to start off clean ( I do this every once in a while before flashing the custom rom)
      2) Flash the rom like described in op
      3) Let rom settle before setting it up
      4) Let the rom restore all the applications from the play store without touching it (I used to continue setting up my phone during this process, but then I immediately noticed the slow downs)
      5) Set your phone up like you want it to without restoring any app data backups
      6) Let it settle for a while
      7) Make a nandroid so you have a clean version with anything you want
      8) Restore app backups, don't choose to restore them all, just the ones which really need it.
      9) Let those settle for a while.
      10) Debloat, block services/wakelock very carefully
      11) Let it settle, Make sure you're not getting any fc's
      12) Install Xposed and modules also very carefully
      13) Setup the modules, again checking you don't have any fc's or hiccups whatsoever
      14) Let them settle
      15) Done. No more mods, nor kernel changes. All these extra features, tweaking, mods seem nice, but this is already a custom port which means it's highly modded already. There's also xposed in there, which already allows you to mod almost anything. Throwing anything else on your phone will eventually start breaking things.

This is something I've learned flashing and it's based on personal experience/opinion. This is not scientifically proven or anything, but for me this type of flashing has given me the stablest, smoothest and fastest experience I've had in a long long time in my note 4.

      Hope this can help people

Good morning my Family and fellow flashers!!

Let's start this morning with a warning ⚠

Since a couple of days there is a new version of TWRP online.. Version 3.0....looks great on the screen shots but.........
They also issue a warning that your device may not boot up anymore....
Quote "WARNING: This is our first release in a long time. We have a lot of new and somewhat aggressive changes in this new release. The changes to the graphics back-end may cause some devices to not boot up properly or have other display-related issues. If you are not in a position to reflash an older build of TWRP, then wait until you are or at least wait until others have tried the new version for your specific device. You don’t want to end up with a non-working recovery and have to wait several hours or days to get to a computer to be able to fix it."

That's exactly what happened to me, I updated tru twrp manager and ended up with no recovery at all.
Every time I restarted the phone i get into download mode no matter what I tried.... After downloading version 2870 and flashing it with Odin I got my recovery back but got stuck in a bootloop...
Pult the battery and wiped dalvik and cache but still in bootloop.... After that I flash Echoe rom 26 (dirty) and kernel 8.6 (and added a couple of fixxes) it finally boots in the right way....

So please be careful with the new TWRP...

      Beter save than sorry....

      Btw... I have the N910f....

Hi guys. Just to confirm twrp v3 does not work on this amazing rom. Probably something to do with note 4/5 crossover?

Let me know if anybody can get it to run.

Well it's nothing connected to the ROM. Recovery is device specific. If you look on xda there are many people with Note 4 where TWRP 3.0 doesn't work.
But yesterday i read that someone compiled a working version.
